Cast Iron Pipe - Made in USA

I am having my main waste pipe replaced from inside foundation wall out to sewer main in the middle of the street because there is a break in the pipe. Have received several quotes from contractors. Some specify whether they will use cast iron pipe that is specifically Made in USA. Others don't have a specification, and when asked they say there are pros and cons to Chinese, Japanese, and US-made pipe.

Is there any real difference I should be concerned about? Is US-made of significantly higher quality?

I do not want to have to dig up the ground again in 10 years because the pipe has failed. So, long life and durability are most important.

This is in Philadelphia, for a row house. Configuration is similar to the image at the link below, except my waste pipe exits the foundation at the same level as the slab, and I won't have a backwater valve.

Thanks in advance!

Seeing as most of the overseas steel is based on our technology and in many cases, from factories that we built....I think you are fine either way.

The installer and company is going to be the bigger differentiator here.

Is it a local code to use cast iron? I would use PVC or ABS drain pipe.
Bondo, joecaption, Yodaman and 1 others like this.

Ditto. No reason to go elsewhere. IMO, they they are the leaders for CI plumbing products.
