Can't get my faucet off

I am trying to replace old faucets in my bathroom and have run across a piece I don't know how to get off. Help!

Re: Can't get my faucet off

Tough to tell from that one picture, but a couple of ideas... Is there a screw on the top of the faucet? Look for caps on the faucet that might be hiding the screwhead, and pop them off.

Can you push down on the faucet while simultaneously turning the wings of that molly counterclockwise?

More pictures would be helpful from both the top of the vanity ( so we can see the faucet) and under the vanity.

I agree that it is a toggle bolt ( we also call them mollies around here). Thats why i suggested looking for a screw head on the top of the faucet. Toggle bolts are not typically removed by unscrewing the wings in my experience. Many times the ends of those wings have a small tooth on them that bites into the substrate, which is why i stated to press down on the faucet if he couldnt find a screw head.
