There talking about a common vent at the top of the stack. Nothing drains down it from above that final connection.

The Kentucky code is seriously a blast from my past. Much like Ohio code when I was an apprentice.

In the end all they are doing is hurting themselves by not using one of the model codes.

Well, I won't claim that the OP's installation is to code, then. But the sink drain is acting as a (possibly illegal) wet vent which is why he's not currently seeing any venting problems.

Codes are not god like I see a lot of hacked up stuff while inspecting. The only time it hurts is if a plumbing pre sale inspection occurs then it can cost thousands to repair. Some areas in Ohio it is mandatory for the building department to do a pre-sale.
