Brass check valve

The brass check valve that connects to my pressure water tanks Tee needs to be replaced. The line coming in from the well is plastic and I'm not sure how to remove that connection from the brass valve.

Re: Brass check valve

Please post a picture so we can see what your seeing.
"Plastic" could be any of at least 4 different things.

Re: Brass check valve

If there are no unions between the check valve and the point where the white pvc comes in.. then the only choice is to cut the white pvc.

Putting it back together can be done with a pvc coupling or pvc union... your choice.

Re: Brass check valve

Most likely you live in the north or an area that freezes.
The plug can be backed out to drain the line from the check valve back to the pump.

I suspect at some point in time someone drilled and tapped that hole for a 1/4" national pipe thread to screw a pressure gauge in.

It appears to be standard "Drain Waste Vent" type PVC. It's pretty crappy stuff and really shouldn't have been used there.

Re: Brass check valve

Is there a certain connector that you would suggest in connecting the brass valve to the PVC?

Re: Brass check valve

So it doesn't matter which side of the pressure tank Tee the gauge is on? Inlet from the well or before the house supply.
