Bathtub trap not lining up

Typical 1950's threaded galvanized 1 1/2 pipe. Comes off the bath tub, picks up the sink and heads to the main stack. What ends up happening is I cut the tub trap out and the replacement trap does not fit.
If I tear everything out and start fresh things would line up fine. Do they make a special trap that would fit in these situations?

Re: Bathtub trap not lining up

#1, First thing I would do is get rid of any old steel plumbing!
It is going to leak and close up on the inside at some point anyway.
First thing I do when buying houses is look at the plumbing and wiring.
Steel drains then I deduct the cost of replacing off the selling price.

I don't understand how an 1.5" trap will not fit. Is it too high, too low?
My code says min 2" trap seal- 4" max seal

Probably needs a trap adapter for the brass tub waste.

Re: Bathtub trap not lining up

pictures will help--there are solvent weld tub sets that would allow your to use 22 or 45 fittings to off set the drain.

What a nightmare. Oh. Well everything is new now. That old pipe crumbed like stale bread. I had to open the wall to connect to the vent pipe.
