Bathtub drain issue

As you can see in the picture there is a purplish ring around the tub drain. It just appeared this morning. Any opinions on what this might be?

Re: Bathtub drain issue

Should be a SS strainer over the drain to catch small items dropped. The face of the flange often is not even visible with a strainer cover.
