Bathroom and Kitchen water line shut offs.

Where can I find bathroom and kitchen sink shut offs that won't corrode?

Depends on your water. I would recommend the ball valve style as they tend to hold up better.

My Dad (a union plumber) took valves apart & covered all surfaces with grease . The tub/shower valve in Mom's bathroom is vintage 1959 & works like brand new . Each time he (or I) change washers , it gets a lube job .

How often do you change the washers in the valves? Those are the 1959 valves?

Do you do this for new valves too - change washers and lube?

My Dad was the expert , I just tried to learn (though I never really strained myself ).

He "greased" every valve he worked on . Tedious ? Yes , but when you need to change stool ball valves & the Mickey Mouse chrome shut-off valve won't work you'll wish you had ! You'll have to shut the water off to the whole house . Not really a big deal , unless you want to stay out of Divorce Court !!!

You only need to change f-washers & adjust packing nut if they drip.....
