Another Rough-In

Greeting all...

First post and with another rough-in challenge. I have seen a lot on here already and figured I would throw mine out there.

As in the others posts, I will be renovating my basement and need to plan out this bathroom. What are the rough-ins for? Now I have no vent pipes or water supply overhead in the joists. I was looking at the local code and they mentioned something about Air Admittance Valves instead of using vent pipes. This is the first I've ever heard of this and is this something that I can use instead of trying to tap into a pipe in a bathroom upstairs?

Thanks, all and look forward to participating on these forums throughout this process.

Re: Another Rough-In

You'll have to check your local jurisdiction if they permit AAV's. (It's basically a one way air valve that allows air to enter your vent pipe but gases not to exit....and consequently does not require external venting)..... but many jurisdictions have different opinions on their use.

Re: Another Rough-In

If possible go for a real vent.
