Adding 2nd water valve

Iím considering adding a set of water valves on the outer half of my house. Are there any negative consequences for doing this? Itís so I donít have to shut down water to the entire house when Iím working on that side of the house. Thanks in advance.

If you install ball valves for that application be certain they are full bore.

I should have mentioned, if full bore is available in the size you will be installing.

Re: Adding 2nd water valve

Thanks. How do I now if it's full bore? I'm looking at this from HD...

Also, I was thinking having the drain so I can work on soldering. I'm having issues getting all the water out, figure this would help.

When fully open you will not see any restriction in inside diameter.

Those types of valves are called Stop and Waste valves.
