Abs/pvc?

Hi everyone..long story short..I am believe that ABS DW piping is required for drainage above grade and that PVC Drainage waste pipe is approved for below grade in Ontario Canada AND that ABS can also be used below grade. I have purchased PVC for new bathroom install in basement but when I went to buy additional fittings was told that ABS is required below grade inside a dwelling and that PVC was only used under ground outside a dwelling.

I would appreciate some input from the real plumbers out there.
THANKS!

Just would make no since there both approve above and below grade in the US.
Just depends on what's avalable in your area.
I have not seen ABS in any box stores in at least 10 years, only PVC.
No reason, both would work, it is what it is.

The only time I see ABS is in mobile homes.

All depends on what your local codes dictate.
There is no logic in using both ABS and PVC, use one or the other depending on what they approve.

I've worked on house in this area for 15 years and have never seen it except in mobile homes.
No local HD, Lowes, or local real plumbing supply even stocks it.

Like I said- you need to get around some. I've been installing it for 30+ yrs.
Commercial, residential and industrial. Sizes 1.5"- 6"
Our suppliers stock both ABS, PVC DWV and sch 40 PVC. Right now I believe DWV PVC is more economical.

Also check and see if your area approves one step PVC glue. It speeds up the glue process by eliminating the primer.

Yeah..Thanks EPlumber..I will look for the one step. I will be checking on local codes (I'm actually in a small town 3 hrs outside Toronto so rather than coming up with another version they have likely adopted the Ontario Plumbing Code. Thanks again

P.S. New grandson being delivered later today so, might not get back for a day or so.

Thanks again..Techpappy
