2" Plumbing for Two washers?

I recall reading that code requires 2" piping to have a washer dump directly into the waste line. My LG 4.5Ft^3 HE FL washer has a 1Ft^3 pedestal washer under it. Is 2" still sufficient for two washers? Granted 1Ft^3 is a bit smaller than having two normal size washers.
