Woodwork/color coordination

I am beginning the process of a kitchen remodel.

My entire house is golden oak, I was hoping to move away from it in the kitchen. The laminate plank flooring I picked out is a much darker walnut color, and I was looking at something like a lighter maple on the cabinetry.

The problem I'm having is its a fairly open floorplan... the sunken family room is right off the dining area, so the dark floor will be butting up against a golden oak railing... and multiple rooms can be seen from each other, making it hard to do anything with the golden oak patio door and windows.

I'm looking for advice on how to transition; since the whole house is oak, I'd hate to cover up all my perfectly good wood with paint just to make the change in the kitchen less problematic. Any ideas? I can't say color & style coordination is my strong suit

First, I would not use laminate in a kitchen, it doesn't hold up to water.

After that, are there differences in the flooring now between the rooms? If so, I would simply use the same transition areas and go with the colors you propose.

Thanks, I actually misspoke, I bought vinyl planks not laminate planks. Chosen specifically because the engineered hardwood floor i just ripped up (which started this project) was damaged by previous water exposure.

Do you have some pics of the layout of your area. Its hard to give advice
with just a description.

Also, have you tried getting some samples of the flooring and looking
at it in your kitchen with your natural light. Often things look different
at home then they do in overhead lighted stores. Usually things look
a lot darker in the home
