Yesterday, we took down our kitchen valance to wash it and I wanted to
change the ties from medium brown to red...for the red I used
a 4 ft Asian table runner ( it has gold in it too) that I hardly ever used.
Since bay window curtains are always a pain to do - - as far as the
rod installation is concerned - - I though I’d give an alternative and
painless way to do it, without the curtain rod ends sticking out.
These curtains were made in three pieces...to fit the three windows.
I cut up the red runner and sewed strips.
I like the red...it kicks it up a notch...besides, change is good.
And women like change...
I took pics of the instillation....
First cut wood strips, we used 1 x 2 inch strips...screw to ceiling or to wall.
First attach the curtain strips with upholstery tacks. ( see first pic)
Then staple curtains to wood with a staple gun. ( no, it doesn’t rust...these
curtains have been up for over ten years - - I wash them twice a year.)
After the curtains are all stapled in place, loop the ties around
and attached the ties with upholstery tacks.
Then fiddle getting them even and fluffy. We did the kitchen door with
the red as well...
note: don’t forget to take out all the old staples from the curtains and from
the wood before washing the curtains and installing them again.
