Wood with tile

I have carpet in living room now. At the front door is a 4'x6' tile area and at the gas log fireplace is a 2'x4' tile area. Would you remove all of this tile and lay wood flooring in its place?

I personally would leave it there, as it's there for a reason but that's just me.

I'd go with tile in the fireplace hearth area for sure. As for the entry, I'd want to know who lives there, their habits and the outdoor conditions. Wood will be fine under most conditions.

You might want to do new tile and call the entire floor 'New"

If there is an irritating height difference or the tile does not match your decorating---Now would be the time to refresh it---
