As far as matching stains and matching poly finishes..... I run into the issue alot with repairing flip properties.

It's not rocket science.... just trial and error. Get several close stains and experiment... you may have to mix several..... use scrap flooring pieces.

Then also pay attention to your poly finish..... clearness or amber affect will be different among brands, and sheen will vary even with the same name (flat/satin/semi).

As you are just doing small sample sections, you can probably return your non-used product if you are clean with it.

I'm usually able to come very close.
