Vinyl self stick tile grout

I am in a battle with HOME DEPOT or should I say two flooring folks there are in a battle with each other. I bought self stick groutable tile for my kitchen and used the standard grout they recommended (sealed it twice.). Six months later, the grout is coming out. It is not a heavily used kitchen so water is not the issue---grout is coming out all over the kitchen. A designer I know said I need to use acrylic grout---which the Home Depot in my area does not carry. After much discussion at Home Depot a flooring guy there said I was right and they have ordered some---although it has been over a month an no one can tell me the status of the order. In the meantime another flooring guy there said the first one was mistaken and that the regular grout should work fine---implying that I must have laid it wrong. The tiles themselves are doing nicely but most of the grout is gone. Another flooring guy there said they have had a lot of complaints but they keep selling the vinyl tile with the standard grout. Does anyone know about the right grout to use with this relatively new product?

WHAT EXACTLY are you referring to when you say "standard grout"? What is the (full) name of the product you used for grout? What is the (full) name of the tile you used?

Home Depot sells (among others but primarily) Custom Building Products Polyblend Grout. I hope that isn't what you used!

Your store may be different, but I've never seen anyone I'd consider a "flooring guy" at those stores. Maybe a guy that works in the flooring department.

As bud said, we need specifics. Can't help without knowing what you used on what.
