Re: Turn concrete foundation into finished floor

THe image in the link appears to be brand new concrete that was power-troweled, and has a high build sealer over it. Polished is generally ground, at least minimally.

Your options are going to depend on what kind of shape your existing floor is in. Most were never intended to be exposed, so contoling cracks by sawing the floor right ater it was poured was rarely done. Aslo depends on if the carpet was glued down or not.

Choose an epoxy scheme you like, a reputable contractor and pay him do it. These jobs aren't really a DIY task so leave this one up to the professionals. There will be plenty of DIY jobs for you later.

In other words, cross this one off the list. Thank you for input.

Re: Turn concrete foundation into finished floor

Don't give up yet! I pulled up the carpet in my bedrooms and acid stained them by myself. I caught a break that the carpet wasn't glued down. The one thing I didn't like was the little divots that popped out of the concrete when I pulled up the tack strips. Probably should've used a leveler on the floor to get rid of them, but was scared it would crack or flake off later. Soy gel took off the stain and paint that had gotten on the concrete during construction. Just followed the directions on the bottle for the acid staining and sealing. I really love it and it wears even better than I thought it would. Good luck.

Just don't forget to supply anyone using that room some nice fresh fuzzy bunny slippers.
That's gonna be one cold floor.
