Sub Floor Thickness Question

I'm replacing some rotted out sub floor. The part I outlined in red will also be cut out and replaced. The existing sub floor is 23/32" thick. I have a 4'x8' sheet of 19/32" sub floor. After it's replaced I'm going to put a layer of thin set down, then 1/4" cement board, and then tile. Is it possible to use the 19/32" stuff I have and build it up an 1/8" or should I just buy a sheet of 23/32"?

Re: Sub Floor Thickness Question

23/32" probably isn't thick enough in the first place. What's the size, spacing and unsupported span of the floor joists?

The joists spacing is 24". 23/32" is what the builder put in. The house was built in 2000. It's a well known builder in the area and obviously it passed inspection.

At any rate, I went and bought a sheet of 23/32" to match it. I only need less than half a sheet and I'll never have any use for the rest of it - but that's life. Maybe Habitat for Humanity can use it.
