Squeaky Floors under floating hardood

Running into an issue with our hardwood floors which are floating & glued together at the seams. There are a few spots in which there is quite a bit of squeaking. The basement is finished, so wondering the best way to handle this. My thoughts thus far are one of two options:

1) pull up trim and try up floor as much as I can and sneak a few screws into the subfloor and joists, then put it back down

2) cut out a section of the floor above the problem area, then throw some screws in, then glue that section back in with a spare piece I saved from the original install.

Please help!

Have you considered cutting the drywall from the badement ceiling and the trying glue and screws from below? Drywall is easier to repair than flooring, in my opinion. Just my 2 cents.

Before I started ripping things apart, I would try the "Hardwood Squeak Elimination Kit" at HD. If that does't work, start ripping

Looks great, but I've installed a floating floor, and i'm pretty certain (though not for sure) the squeking is coming from the subfloor. So I don't think it would fix it.

I tried that b4 I finished my basement using shims and glue. Didn't fix it, even though it make some progress.

Re: Squeaky Floors under floating hardood

I am also agreeing that it is coming from the subfloor. My suggestion of glue and screws would be to tighten the subfloor to the joists by prying up the subfloor slightly above the joists and injesting some construction adhesive between them and then toe screwing through the joists into the subfloor. Not sure if it will work or not but worth a shot before ripping part of the floor.
