Small chip on surface of laminate

I have a small chip on my laminate...Probably a nail from a window stool I'm replacing
What is the best way to fix it? Some epoxy wood putty then stain, and finally a touch up of polyurethane?

Most laminate manufacturers make a quazi matching epoxy/glue......

Or depending on the aesthetic visability.... just mix some epoxy with oil enamel.... I keep a tray of that hobby "Testors Enamel" for coloring epoxy repairs.
