Patching solid oak flooring on the groove side

I am patching two sides of my closet flooring (one and a half rows on the groove side, and ~5 rows on the tongue side).

Tongue side seems pretty straight forward, just like if I were installing completely new.

The groove side, not so much. I am thinking get a tongue spline and flip the boards around so it would install like the other side. Is glue necessary on the groove side, if so I have PL premium, or is tite-bond used instead?

Anything I miss or any other tips?

I'd cut the bottom half of the groove off, the replacement piece should slip right in then.

I'd just stuff the 1.5 pieces into the space and face nail the last one. It should be hidden under the base board and quarter round.

Right, the whole piece will show, and the half will barely peek through. So don't bother with glue or anything? This will be in a closet by the way.

I wouldn't glue it.
Another option could be to nail through the groove and then notch the tongue to fit around the nail. It's a small area so it shouldn't be to much work.

Perfect. I completely dismissed the idea of nailing the grooved side and didn't think of that. I like that idea.
