Leave it be or keep stripping?

I rented the floor stripper from HD and managed to rip up most of my 25 year old vinyl flooring. There is still mixture of stripped to concrete and a having a really thin layer of the backing material still stuck on. It's a very thin layer, less than 1/16".

I'm thinking I should scrape any lose bits up, but the mastic will make up the difference as long as it's firmly stuck to the floor.

Is there any good reason I should kill myself getting down to bare concrete?

By floor stripper, did you mean a rotary buffing machine? If so, what did you use with it? For example, a black pad, stripper with water & ammonia, Red Devil Lye, etc...? What are your plans for the floor once it's done?

No, a big heavy machine with a large vibrating knife at the front.

I will be putting down ceramic tile.

I don't know if the remaining glue will hinder the new adhesive. Why don't you see if you can find a chemical that will dissolve the glue? Usually something oil based works. The rotary machine that I mentioned may work.
