Lacquering Kahrs flooring

We have Kahrs engineered wood in the living/dining/kitchen and I'd like to lacquer the kitchen area in case any water gets spilled. (I wanted to tile the kitchen area, but I only have 49% voting power.) Kahrs used to sell a proprietary lacquer, but don't anymore, which puzzles/concerns me. A quick search here lead me to believe there are special, more flexible sealing "paints" than a standard polyurethane. Any type/brand recommendations? thanks. john

You use a lot of conflicting terms in your post which has me (at least confused).Lacquer which there are many types of not suited to flooring, then you state, paints and polyurethanes.
What specifically are you looking for.A good clear floor finish??

Yes. Just some chit to paint on the floor that will work w/ engineered wood atop radiant floor heat in concrete. I don't care if it's called lacquer or what. thanks. j

Thank you for your pleasant response.I was just trying to get more info after your confusing post.Is not all Kahrs flooring prefinished? The stuff they sell at Wal Mart and HD??Trying to help but you probably don't want to hear my true professional opinion especially after your response.

always happy to hear a professional opinion. yes; our karhs is pre-finished, but the joints, of course, are still vulnerable to water. their lacquer was made specifically for that reason; joints. pls advise on what your experience is w/ this. i applied a clear finish in a small area as a test, and it seems to have done no damage to the floor, but that was only a couple of square feet and only several months ago. cheers. j
