Jamb saw instead of base shoe?

So base board shoe molding is over a dollar per foot, would it be okay to use a jamb saw on baseboard and slide vct tile into the cut, rather than laying shoe mold over the tile?

I reckon the saw would pay for itself on its first job.

Somethings really wrong if your paying $1.00 a ft.
Your location in your profile may explain why.

1/4 round is even cheaper then shoe molding.
No such thing as baseboard shoe molding, it's just shoe molding.

Maybe in DC. Here I just paid .29 per foot for primed shoe base in 16 foot runs.
