Installing vinyl plank on concrete need some advice

Iím wanting to instal vinyl plank on my slab. Unfortunately the slab is not level. The guy at Home Depot said that I donít need to do anything to it before installing the floor. I donít believe him. Should I do self leveling compound or is there any alternatives to keep this project quick and inexpensive?

I would like to emphasize the importance of getting the floor level.
or - at least get any obvious "divots" filled.
my daughter has a house that has the vinyl plank on slab and there
are several areas in the house that were not leveled and now, 2 years later,
the adhesive has lost its tack and there is a loud proverbial POP when you
step on it. your weight presses it down and it grabs the adhesive for about
two seconds, then it POPS back up . . . very annoying.
I have no idea as how to fix it and do NOT want to venture into that skill set.
so ~ from personal experience - GET THE FLOOR LEVEL prior to applying the vinyl.

Agree with the others. If not "Level", at least "Flat".

I understand that leveling is very important. Iím trying to figure out whatís the best way or efficient way. Who ever did the slab was not concerned with a level surface. Itís got some highs and lows all over the place. Is self leveling compound my only option or are there others such as creating a sub floor?

Using the vinyl planks your best bet would be SLC. Building a subfloor will put wood in contact with the moisture laden concrete. Life expectancy would be short and mold could grow.

Re: Installing vinyl plank on concrete need some advice

Give us specifics on what floor you are considering. There are substantially thick vinyl click locks with a pvc core that are more forgiving than a single layer flexible vinyl floor. Floating would be my first suggestion instead of glue down.
