How long to acclimatize engineered wood flooring?

I had changed my mind on my flooring choice. Instead of the bamboo I have been aging for years I just bought some engineered wood floors.

I want to install this before Thanksgiving for family arrival. Is there any reason to let it acclimatize for more than a week? For a room over the unheated garage, would nailing or gluing be best?

Usually 72 hours is sufficient acclimation time. As far as the installation how thick is it, is it tongue and groove, click lock?

If you're on a wood subfloor...nails nails nails. I used to work for a builder and I would cringe when they glued down engineered to the wood subfloor. Good luck ever tearing that up without replacing the subfloor.

I have decided to go nails for that very reason. I have some bamboo flooring I had purchased many years ago. It has had a bad reputation, and the company recommended I glue it down.

The thought of gluing it and running into problems down the road, made me choose to get this other wood and also nail it. If something goes wrong I want to be able to pull it up.

Found the instructions online. It looks like 18 or 20 gauge 1 1/2" cleats or staples are called for.

The length of time to acclimate depends on the difference between the moisture percent it contains and the average moisture of the surrounding wooden material. Six percent is a common percent moisture for indoor wood materials. It could be the same as what other wood is in the area it will be exposed to and need very little or no acclimation at all.

I once repaired some dining chairs for a lady that lived in Louisiana and when she moved to a drier climate they fell apart.
