Hardwood flooring installation training

Hello Folks,

I am thinking of changing carpet in my house with hardwood flooring and thinking of doing it myself. I looked at few videos however thinking of getting some kind of hands on training before i do it. Do you guys know where can i get a quick 1 or 2 day training on hardwood installation?

Thanks
Simon

You could try offering free labor to a local installer. But I wouldn't hold my breath. It takes time and patience to train a newbe. Maybe offer to pay him!

Watching videos should suffice. Start in areas that are less visible. You'll do great, it's not that hard.

Re: Hardwood flooring installation training

I can't think of anyway to get 1-2 days worth of instruction. (I really doubt a contractor would want the liability of having someone not an employee working on their job site, plus there the the whole "can you teach me to do what you do so I don't have to hire you?" aspect.)

But if after doing your research, if you had couple few specific questions, I think there is good chance that if you bought flooring from a store that actually specializes in flooring (not a box store), that they'd spend a few minutes showing you a couple of things.

You could check with the NWFA and see if they are having classes your area.
