Hardwood floor under-layment

I went through the painstaking task with my existing hardwood floors of uninstalling, de-nailing, scraping 90 years of yuck stuck between the boards, and finally planing off the finish. My house has been undergoing an extensive renovation and the boards have been piled up for a couple/few years now.
This weekend I'm going to start re-installing them.
When I pulled them up they were nailed directly to the plank subfloor with no underlayment. I've pulled the planks up and installed a plywood subfloor.
Do I need an underlayment if the space below is conditioned? If so, what products are available for underlayment?
TIA

Stumbled across a roll of rosin paper. I forgot a friend had given me his leftover. That will work, right?

Rosin paper is the usual choice. If your subfloor is rough (relatively), I would consider using 30 lb tarpaper.

Locally, 15lb roofing felt is the norm under hardwood.

Thanks, I'm going to use up the rosin paper. I haven't decide on heating method yet and retrofit radiant floor is one of the options; I don't want any issues with off-gassing of tarpaper.
