Question

Groutable vinyl tile

Hi, I am remodeling my boys' bathroom. As part of this remodel, I've decided to consider the vinyl tiles (groutable) to keep my costs down. This bathroom is primarily used by my four boys ages 10-17, so I wanted something relatively easy to clean, but still looks nice. The bathroom currently had the old sticky tiles that we inherited when we bought the house. The seams of the tiles are difficult to keep clean, so that seems easily eliminated with grouting the tile?!?!

My question is, to add a decorative look, could I use glass mosaic accents in the pattern? Has anyone tried that?

That won't work---the glass tiles will be to thick---and glass tiles are not recommended for use on floors---

I have glass mosaic floor tiles, and they are fine???

There is a slight variance in depth of the tile, I was trying to figure out a way to accommodate for that... So far I haven't figured it out yet :-) that was going to be my next question, if anyone had any suggestion. I was considering whether it would be possible to thinset the floor before putting down the vinyl (as I would need to for mosaics anyhow... But that seems like a lot of work for vinyl tile. Ease was a consideration for selecting the vinyl anyhow...

If you where to go to that much effort--I'd suggest just doing ceramic on the whole floor---
