Glue or nail laminate onto stair as a riser?

So I have decided to remove carpet and put laminate on the stair riser where that ugly carpet is on the top stair riser. Should I be nailing or glueing it some how? Any advice for this?

You want the laminate riser solidly affixed somehow.

If you don't it has a potential to trip someone on this step.

I don't know about you, but I sure do not like to trip on stairs, that sudden stop really hurts.

After you get the carpet removed see what you have for a riser, and attach the laminate using whatever the manufacturer advises .

Here is a photo of what is behind the carpet. I can either nail the laminate or glue the laminate I am just looking for some advice as to what is better? The manufacturer does not have any recommendation for stair risers on the packaging.

Use Fuze-it adhesive to glue it to the riser. How are you planning on addressing the nosing?

Any adhesive made for construction work will suffice, liquid nails, fuze-it, etc.

My preferred choice is PL Construction adhesive, it sticks well, and is hard to break the bond.

Just use it sparingly, and use a stiff plastic card to spread it thin.

An old credit card works well, as does an ice scraper .

Got a mess there, your missing a landing tread at the top step.

The issue of using laminate on stairs and second floors has been talked about hundreds of times on this site and any other DIY site with all the real flooring guys agreeing it's not a great idea.
The flooring has to have room to expand and contract.
There's going to be a trip hazard at the nose of the steps.
Going to be tricky trying to cut those risers to fit and not have any gaps with no good way to fill them in.
If I "had" to do the job I'd glue them using a caulking gun leaving it at least 2" from the edges and spread it out with a 1/2" toothed trowel so the glue will smoosh out flat and not leave humps.
