Gap in bathroom tile floor and wall

What is the best way to fix a gap between tile floor and wall. It is an uneven gap that ranges from 1/2" to 1 1/2" and it is also about 1/2"-1" deep. We are remodeling our bathroom and tore out the wall tile, there were two layers of tile from previous remodel which caused the gap between wall and floor. We are not planning to replace floor, but unsure of how to fix gap. We will be using a baseboard, but need something to sit it on.

It's going to be ugly whatever it is.

I would try to match the existing mortar color, and mortar the edges with it.

Troweling it smooth with a slight raised edge at the wall side, to channel any spilled water into the room, that will maybe stop any water from getting to the edge to possibly run under the baseboard, and rotting any flooring.

Using a real 1 x 6 as a baseboard with base cap molding on top and 3/4' 1/4 round at the base should work.

That would look OK.

I'd look for PVC or such. Wood touching a tile floor? Not in my book!

You will need a level line on the wall for the first board to go to. Or fill the gap with mortar.
