Flooring Before Drywall

Hi everyone. I am in the process of building a home and decided to install vinyl plank flooring throughout the downstairs. I've never done this type of flooring before and I was wondering if it would be easier to install it before putting up the walls/framing since I won't have to cut around door jams etc. which I am worried I may mess up. I'm not too worried about getting the floors dirty/damaged because I was planning on covering them really well. Any advice would be appreciated!

Re: Flooring Before Drywall

I would not. Are you running base moulding throughout the home?

Sheetrock should go on (look up airtight drywall approach) and then your flooring.

Undercutting the trim around the doors is easy or just leave enough space under the trim before installation when you cut them.

Hang drywall first. I'd then do as much work as possible before the floors go in. Window casing, hang and case doors, crown molding, paint, etc.

You can lay a piece of flooring under the door jambs as a spacer so you don't have to undercut it later. Then install flooring and base.
