Yes when staining using an orbital sander (palm sander) helps avoid swirls.. We always use a plan sander on the edges before finishing when we know we are staining.. Hope this helps.

Beautiful job MaineLL. I'd love to see pics of schatzi's.

We've just installed 5" oak and are in the process of drum sanding now. We had to return the 1st sander as only 1 side of drum was contacting floor. Is this typical user error? We're 1st time Sanders as well. I just don't want this to be a recurring problem if we messed the machine up... (Clarke ez-8)
