Face nail T&G

Hello.

What nails are recommended for face nailing portions of a T&G reclaimed fir where the grooves are damaged?

Thanks

Is this the finished flooring? Makes a big difference. If it's the finished flooring, pre drill and use 6d finishing nails.

Ok, good. My answer stands then. Tell us more. Is the wood 1x4 or 6", how about the subfloor? How old is the house, is the floor flat within specs?

Thanks. It's an old house but with 3/4 inch plywood subfloors and beefed up joists with blocking screwed every 16 inches. 3/4" X 2.5" 20 foot fir planks.

Re: Face nail T&G

I always blind nail through the tounge. When that's not possible I use an appropriately sized finish nail, set below flush, and filled with color matched filler. For 3/4" flooring I like 8d ring shank nails driven at opposing angles.
