Extend old laminate flooring

I'm removing a 15 sqft closet in my basement. The closet has no flooring - need to extend existing floor. The rest of the room has laminate. The laminate is directly on the concrete (with thin pad on the bottom of the laminate, attached to the plank). There is no vapor barrier of any sort. I don't see mold on bottom of the piece I removed but it smells funky. Not much I can do there except replace the whole floor with vapor barrier which I'm not going to do at this time. I would consider it except that there's a pool table in this room, moving it would be a massive pain.

ANYWAY, the flooring is 15+ years old. Has no brand or numbers on it. Do I take a pull a sample of my floor and bring it to big box store? I know that even if I knew the brand/model/color, it's most likely out of production.

I read that I might have trouble finding matching tongue/groove and that I'll have to trim the new flooring before laying it down AND glue it? Sounds terrible. Any suggestions?

Re: Extend old laminate flooring

I wouldn't even attempt to match the type & color of the flooring & matching the tongue & grooves is worse. I would look for some rubberized squares to fill the gap. May I ask why you don't want the closet anymore?

The closet is not in use and it's in a game room where we would like more room for games and stuff.

Pool table on laminate.... You're lucky if that's not causing issues somewhere in the room with buckling or gapping.
