Carpet Suggestions Nylon & Padding

Hello,

I did some research on carpet, but still have some questions. Carpet will be going in 3 bedrooms, Master, Guest and Back Entertainment Room.

Master: 17.25' x 12'

Guest: 11.42' x 10.7'

Entertainment Room: 17.33' x 14.75'

I looked into Mohawk and Shaw. I was able to go to a local carpet shop and asked to see Shaw 100% Nylon. I felt the Anso Nylon fiber and another called Shaw carpet called Ravishing. I prefer the Ravishing (see below).

http://shawfloors.com/carpetdetails/...6866-spun_silk

Is this good carpet? Any other suggestions. Mohawk was more expensive.

Ravishing is nylon, so it should wear well and resist stains. The only negative I see is that it's sofbac. I personally don't like sofbac, but some people do. Make sure that you get an experienced installer, sofbac carpets can be difficult to seam and stretch. Also, it is extremely heavy, labor is usually higher because it may take 4 men to carry it in.

To give an example of weight, I have never seen a 12'x12' that I couldn't carry by myself. except a 12'x12' of sofbac usually takes 3 men to carry in.

Would you recommend any other carpet in Nylon? Which backing do you like?

I like actionbac. But don't let me scare you off. Go to a store and check out the carpet samples and/or rolls. You can see the different backings.

I figured out that I need 80 sq. yards of carpet. I called 10 local carpet dealers for Shaw. Price range installed $2600-$3400 with 0.5" 8lb. padding. Most places are offering 1 year warranty on the installation, is this something to be concerned about?

The top 2 installers I chose have been around 30 & 20 years respectively.

10? You called 10?

What will you do if someday you need an operation to save or prolong your life?

I year labor warranty is standard. Too many things out of the installers' control to give a longer warranty.

Too many hacks out there. I was able to narrow down to two good companies.
