Just recently had carpet installed. The company installed the carpet over bamboo flooring. I always thought before carpet installation you need to be to the subfloor but I was not given that option. Is it normal the leave the quarter round next the carpet. They also had to cut the bottom of my doors. I guess my question is, was the carpet installation properly done?
I would have removed all the base and quarter round, reinstalled the base 1/2" above your existing flooring so they would have a place to tuck the carpeting (at a substantial cost, however) It is fine to carpet over hardwoods. Gosh, I have pulled more carpet off beautiful hardwoods more than once. Undercutting the doors made for a good tuck point.
If the carpet is secure at the edges and tucked well, it is fine. Different strokes.
