Carpet Glue woes

Hey folks,

New to the fora, but I need some sage advice (badly).

We ripped up about 800 square feet of carpet, and the resulting "aftermath" is some bare concrete, and lots of carpet glue.

We got as much of the carpet glue off as possible. We had a contractor come in with a carbide sander, and worked it down as past as he could. He also buffed it out so it is smooth. However, there are still a significant amount of carpet glue "stains" and regions on the concrete.

I purchased a bunch of Valspar stain, as well as the Valspar prep (cleaner and etcher).

A couple of questions for the good of the order:

1. Can we stain over the carpet glue? If so, what would be the steps for that?

2. Could you paint the carpet glue rather than staining? If so, could we use a sealer or something similar for that?

3. Are there any other options I am not considering?

Thank you in advance friends.

The stain will look very different over the concrete and glue. I am no expert here, but personally I would either recarpet or use some sort of vinyl floor covering

Agree with Jim, you can't stain over glue. Unless you want this room to look like crap, you either:
Need to get rid of all the glue . And you're not doing that, as the glue is fused into the top layer of concrete.
or
Put down something that covers the floor.
