Cardboard as Flooring?

So, I've seen all these videos of people using paper bags or brown paper as flooring and I was wondering if cardboard could be used in the same way.

Re: Cardboard as Flooring?

I have not heard about using paper bags for at least 10 years, it was just a horrible idea.
Cardboard would be even worst.
What made you think of even using it?

Re: Cardboard as Flooring?

It sort of resurfaced on youtube. I was thinking about trying it out but I had the thought that cardboard would be a little bit easier since I could use it to cover more space.

Re: Cardboard as Flooring?

How do you wash a paper or cardboard floor?

If money is the concern, you can buy cheap peel n stick floor tile for about 50 cents a square foot.

Re: Cardboard as Flooring?

As crazy as it sounds, it has some merit, I mean for a cheap, cheap floor. I've seen the paper bag flooring and it actually turns out pretty nice. The key, of course, is applying a quality clear coat. The problem with cardboard, that I see, is that it has a flexibility factor which may cause cracking of any clear coat that would be applied.

Re: Cardboard as Flooring?

Why oh why.
Even laminate would be far better than cardboard!

Re: Cardboard as Flooring?

I actually thought this was a joke and then I saw the video. Why would you do this to your floor. It's like painting the walls orange. If you ever sell you'll have to rip it up. Maybe it would look cool in a bar or something.

Re: Cardboard as Flooring?

Well sure, paper will work. Cardboard will not work for obvious reasons.

Re: Cardboard as Flooring?

People used to do a similar treatment on their walls, with paper grocery bags.

Re: Cardboard as Flooring?

I once saw a wall in a Gym, that had dozens of Wheaties boxes ( face side only), stuck on the wall then a clear coat sprayed on.

Have demoed old homes that had cardboard and newspapers stuck between the studs as insulation.

That paper flooring looks like hell to me.

And since cardboard has a corrugated layer any weight will crush it.

I know because when I step on some I leave a big boot print.
