Bugman has a flooring question

Perhaps I can hijack this thread with the following related questions of my own:

1.) Can someone recommend a good electric back-cut saw to use on the case molding?
2.) For transitioning from a hardwood hallway to a carpeted bedroom, I would like to just turn a piece of hardwood sideways to be perpendicular to the hardwood. The bedroom carpet was cut long when it was installed to allow this. So, do I just re-cut the carpet enough to fold under itself? I heard some guys will cut one lip of the groove to allow the carpet to kind of tuck under the remaining lip.
3.) What kind of sander is best? I've seen drum sanders that cause ruts because the guy doesn't keep it moving. So, is the vibrator the best?
4.) After sanding, do most add the sawdust to the filler and then spread?

Start your own thread as this leads to confusion.
