Hey Everyone.
I recently bought a shack for next to nothing. Im gutting it and turning it into a cabin for my everyday living. I found some 1906 barn wood 2x8s that I would like to use for the flooring. Im going to rip them down in half and narrow them, so they would be roughly 1x6s. I was going to put the ripped side down onto my sub floor, but i've been reading about ventilation grooves to keep them from warping. A local man suggested that I put in 1/4 inch spacers all over my floor to let it breath. Does anyone have experience with old wood like this?

Very poor idea for a floor.
Full of gaps, uneven edges unless you ran them through a jointer, it's going to flex, to soft, exposed nails.
