But over the years, how many times were rooms repainted, wallpapered or the house redecroated in general...?

My parent's house is over 50 years old. We joke that the rooms are all probably about a square centimeter smaller due to the number of times the walls have been painted over the decades.

Yeah, not so much. The living room paint was original and still looked great but we repainted it something more modern for the sale. 2 bedrooms painted twice and one once..
We really weren't into home improvement just took really good care of it.

It's moving along, we are learning that you need to be super specific on how you want something done, sick to your guns and never be afraid to ask questions. All the drains are in and I'm making the plumber move one. The excavator brought in the rock and the cement guy who spread it said he was 3 yards short. That started an argument between those two and they are supposed to be friends. Their suppliers were closed today but I found the rock needed. The cement guy was very proud in how flat he graded the rock and dirt in the garage and now my plumber is moving a drain and doing water lines. (Not sure why he didn't do those before) Tomorrow we start putting down poly and foam board insulation and there are high winds expected.

We fought mother nature and got all of our poly and insulation down. We had 30 mph gusts of wind. I'm glad I had lots of lumber lying around.

Next was in floor heat. Concrete was coming Wednesday so that had to go down Monday night. Yeah, things don't ever seen to happen like we want. Half of it did go down Tuesday night and by chance the concrete guy said he could only pour half the house Wednesday. We got lucky.

Whoda thunk building a house would involve so much digging.

Re: Our DIY home build. Margaskeeterville

Havent been on here for a bit. Time for an update. Like everything else we have done we are fighting weather again. Luckily we have gotten a few good days here and there and overall I think the temp has been above normal.

Many of these may be slightly out of order. Do the Amish have to abide by any OSHA laws?

Just hang in there, your home will happen. I sure know your pain wanting to move the house along further. Hope the weather lets you do much more soon.

Are basements not a big thing in Mn. I am not sure i could be without one. I have always had one here in Michigan and the few years i worked in Illinois.

We are building for retirement or at least ease of getting old. No more lugging laundry up and down stairs. We also have a nephew who is wheelchair bound so this is another place he can visit. How many friends and or relatives can someone in a wheelchair even visit.
