Hall bathroom gut due to structual issue

I always noticed that over time the row of tile next to the tub felt higher and higher then the tile leading up to it. I then started to notice a crack in the dining room ceiling, right below the bathroom. So I said the hell with it and started gutting!

And I find that they cut right through the joist and barely stabbed on wood to brace the area... Unreal

I also gutted the ceiling below due to the crack and wanted to redo the dropped ceiling framing.

I feel your pain......

This was our bathroom after the floor of the shower just about fell out.

That black spot is where the shower 'used' to be....and there are 2 walls gone.

One big piece of advice.....don't take shortcuts on fixing the structural issue.....and when in doubt, make it bigger. Your floor can never be too strong.
