Samsung Dryer Not starting

We have a Samsung Dryer, model DV45H7000AW that is 3 years old. When I press the Start button there is a humming sound and the cycle won't start. I will press the power button to turn dryer off and then turn power on again, and press the Start button and the dryer will start the cycle. There is no consistency as to when this will happen. Almost as if there's a short? I'm afraid if I call a Service tech out; the dryer will start right up for him and I'll have wasted a Service call. Please advise.

Re: Samsung Dryer Not starting

Most likely something stuck in the blower wheel, sock, dryer sheet, rag. Or a bad motor.

Re: Samsung Dryer Not starting

It's pretty easy to pull the fronts off.

As Bayo said...chances are it sucked up a sock.

Any chance you ran it without the lint filter?

I have always ran it with the lint filter. I will try to take the front off and check.

Re: Samsung Dryer Not starting

Ok, so we had a Service tech come out and look at the Dryer and he said it needs a new motor. He wants $481 to replace the motor. The tech did say that my model has replaced the motor in this unit with an upgraded motor. I just can't believe after less than 3 years the dryer needs a new motor. I'm going to write a letter to Samsung but not sure it will do much good. Not going to buy another Samsung. What is the most reliable brand out there?

Re: Samsung Dryer Not starting

Ok, now I have found a new motor OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) on Amazon, New for $107.79. Local guy will install a new motor that he'll supply for $171 and he said it's FSP (Factory Certification Parts). Does it make a difference in OEM and FSP? Or is the local guy just trying to get more money for the part?
