Induction cooktop ok the drop in and use? Or need brackets?

I have a kitchenaid 30 cooktop that drops right in to the cutout in the granite countertops. There is a roll of soft foam adhesive 1/8 wide supplied but no mention of what to do with it in installation manual. Is it ok to simply lay this into the hole in the counter and let gravity hold it in? Or do I need the installation kit for marble countertops with adhesive. Anyone know if this strip goes around the cutout in between the counter and cooktop
?

Attach the foam to the underside of your cooktop. It will keep spills from going underneath and also put a cushion between the marble and the cooktop. The brackets keep the cooktop from moving after installation
