Farmer's insurance has an ad about this subject, a dog jumping at the range trying to get at a pizza, sets the box on fire, and burned down the house.

I would think that the insurance company would have sued the range makers to stop this from happening again.

It's in the manual not to do that.... So they are fairly protected. Since consumers only want the cheapest, it's not changing anytime soon.
