Dishwasher won't drain completely

I have a GE dishwasher that leaves an inch of water at the bottom after almost every cycle. I know the drain isn't clogged because if I immediately start a new cycle, it drains quickly, (before starting the new starting the new cycle). It's almost as if the pump stops too soon when the cycle ends.
Does anyone have any ideas for what may be going on?
Thanks,
rkhpapa

Certainly not an expert - but there may be a water sensor that senses how high the water is - then the pump runs timed off of that. If you post a specific model you may get more responses. You still could have a minor restriction in the screen /filter area.

We had a DW with a similar problem and when i pulled it out to replace it found the discharge hose kinked.

Re: Dishwasher won't drain completely

Did you get this resolved ? it could be a hose issue maybe a drain pump motor problem. could be a sensor issue or something could be a little clogged could be a issue with the control board!
