Everything is racist, even hurricane names.

We have Sheila Jackson Lee to thank for "diversifying" and giving us unpronounceable hurricane names.

Re: Hurricane E something

My roof has Hurricane straps.

And my overhead garage door has extra something to make it I guess less likely to blow off. I guess thatís all I can do. I bring my bird feeders in so theyíre not a projectile unlike my neighbors who donít. Oh forgot. My kids gave me eight solar lights that stick in the ground so I should probably bring those in.

Every year I intend to get a hurricane shutter on one window in a room that only has one window and I thought that way I would have someplace safe to go. But I havenít. Anyway daughter lives nearby and insists I go to her house which has more windows than mine plus skylights, Most neighbors have plywood they put up.

We stock up on water ahead of time plus canned food and this year we have a two burner Coleman stove and we just have one of those little tanks those little green things I always wonder if that would last a week but daughter seems to think so. Between fixing instant coffee in the morning and things for lunch and supper. A couple years ago the power here was out for two weeks.....across the street.

Perhaps you'll get some needed rain and that will be it.
I have friends near Tampa and Fort Meyers and have been there.
Those storms can be devastating to say the least.

Hmm.

That piece sounds a little desperate. One thing none of the alternative authors seems to consider is retired hurricane names.

If a hurricane is bad-azz enough, i.e., causes enough deaths, damage, or both its name is retired.

Eventually, at least in theory, they'll run out of white people sounding names and have to start stretching a bit if enough get retired.

I remember hearing of the havoc wreaked by Betsy and Camille in the 1960s.

After they started using male names some of those got retired too, like David, and Andrew, for just a couple.

How about her name? Has there been a Sheila? A good Irish name.

I could handle a Hurricane Kie$$ha. Bet she would too, even if she's a white girl.

Re: Hurricane E something

Fix’n it, Fla is only state I’ve paid HO insurance so not sure how it compares but it doesn’t seem too bad.

I was annoyed the first year after I bought this house when I called the insurance company and ask how I could lower the insurance. They told me I had an automatic $80,000 coverage on contents. I didn’t realize that so I canceled that and just have the minimum content coverage they’ll let me have.

Ha. Today a young reporter stumbled over this hurricane’s name.

We could do like Gwenith Paltrow the actress who named her child ‘Apple’ or Kim Kardashien who named a child ‘North’

Or we could name them after animals.
