Hail

Big storm just passed thru. I was almost scared. Trees bent over, lightening and hail for 3 minutes straight. Marble size.

Sounded like a machine gun hitting my house.

Im worried about the cardinal nests in the yard. That had to have hurt the females sitting on the nests. Lightening has moved away so I may run out and make sure none got blown out of the nests.

Re: Hail

Did you have your car parked under roof? When the weather clears check your house roof for damage.

We are currently having heavy rain along with some wind. I intended to feed the critters after the race went off but they'll have to wait!

When we get hard rain I worry about my driveway, water can move a lot of gravel and slate rock.

Re: Hail

My carís in the garage. Thank goodness.

Hail melted fast. No birds or eggs on the ground. Parents are still up near nest. Theyíre in a big thick tree so maybe had some protection. They flew at me this morning when I was too close.

One mile away power is out till 10:30 pm. Darn. My one lonely tomato plant got battered but I staked it back up.

Ok, in morning Iíll look for loose gutter or lifted shingles.

Re: Hail

Dark clouds here so checked the weather, nothing big, but looked down at NYC and they have a bunch coming tonight. I have a friend down by Grenville SC and they are getting clobbered.

Rain, Rain, go away. We need to dry out.

Re: Hail

I found a pretty nice website that gives a hail map. Maybe you know about it already.
http://www.stormersite.com/hail_repo...o_florida/2019. It seems to be current weather. There were a lot of hailstorms when I first looked but it moved E.

Re: Hail

@Startingover , you appear a bit traumatized.

Can't blame you but you got through.

Been through hail, though not large hail, and know that feeling of betrayal

Re: Hail

Shingles are not going to curl from hail damage, there going to have black spots where the granules where driven into the asphalt.
As far as the over head door in the Garage, is there a side passage door so you can get into the garage?
If so just pull the rope on the track to release the door and manually open the door.

I assume that you meant to ask "How do I open the door when the power is out?"

Pull the cord with the handle hanging down in the center. That will disconnect the door from the opener. Then lift the door with the handle at the bottom near the floor. If properly balanced it should not be too heavy. To close, pull the rope tied to the door on one side.

Re: Hail

My stove hood exhaust is a large curved metal vent on the roof. Thats where the worst of the noise was as hail hit then echoed into kitchen.

Re: Hail

I can only imagine what that sounded like. Probably made you want to use a wet wipe (See the never-ending topic on the plumbing page).

Re: Hail

HK, normally the TV has a monitor scrolling for every little cloud or gust of wind, but I was watching Netflix so no warnings.

Re: Hail

One of our local TV stations has miniaturized the weather warnings that scroll across the screen. The warning is less than 1/2" high on a 48" TV, I have to get up closer to the TV to read it. I couldn't imagine trying to read it on a small TV.

As Joe mentioned hail damage on the roof is more in the way of beat up shingles. Lifted shingles would be from wind. Heard from some friends in Deltona and along with power outages and wind they have some minor flooding. I'll have to get on the tractor and retrieve my driveway as some of it's 75' down the paved road. .... and the opening for my 2 drain tiles is higher than the road so I'll have to shovel them out.
