How many people look at their tires before driving off?

One thing I won’t do is drive past Landfill entrance with garbage trucks going in an out. Thought I discovered a better way to work with no traffic. Maybe that wasn’t a good idea.
My dad taught us to do that every time before getting in the car. I've gotten real lazy with it, as my vehicles have all had the TMPS since about 2008

Re: Another month another tire

I give up.

1. What are goat heads.

2. What is TMPS

Senior, I want those tires. I use to hear Michelin was the Cadillac of tires.

One time stepping on one of those, after it has matured is all you will need to remember them even 60+ years later.

I still feel the pain of having them dug out by mom.

They are solid enough to flatten a wore car tire too.

Re: Another month another tire

Back in the days of every town having a landfill, I got 7 flat tires in 2 weeks hauling construction debris to the dump. I carried plugs with me. I put 7 plugs in one nasty sidewall puncture. It wasn’t the right thing to do, but it was a new tire. I drove for a long time seeing that barnacle on the left rear tire in my mirror.

Re: Another month another tire

Painting new construction I've gotten a lot of flats from nails. I always plugged them myself. Back when I was young and poor I often bought junkyard tires. I had one used tire replaced with another used one and the guy mounting the tire counted the plugs in that particular tire - 27 of them! He claimed I got an extra 1000 miles out of the plug rubber.

Might not work on today's radial ply tires but I have had vulcanized patches put on the inside of a sidewall puncture.

Re: Another month another tire

My tire is a Kelly, $111 total, and I just read if if has an ‘R’ its a radial. Maybe all tired are radial, I don’t know.

Re: Another month another tire

I don't think you can buy a bias passenger car tire anymore, most if not all are radials.

If you had solid tires for cars, you would still wear the tread off, and then they would be unsafe, as "slicks" don't hold the road in the wet, and snowy weather.

We should all drive Tanks, that way there would be very little damage to them in a "fender bender", and they don't have tires.

But do take skills that many can't master.

And every pneumatic tire will "blow out", if they wear through the treads, and the belting.

Been there.
Hmm. I take it no one drives on bald tires where you're at. They did in Cleavagetown, dang, scary in the winter.
